String Quilt
I made this String Quilt out of all of the long strips left over from years of quilting projects. They were various widths and lengths so I sorted them by widths and sewed same width strips together lengthwise. Then I began sewing them together widthwise. After about 36 strips, I was using longer and longer lengths and when I laid it on the floor I had a perfect rainbow arc. So I unpicked all of the strips, cut them to precise lengths and sewed them together again. This time they came out square. I divided sections of the strips with strips of squares and down the middle is a row of left over nine patch blocks. You can't tell from the picture but when I quilted it, I didn't want to just do lines, and all of this color is hard to mark, so I hand-quilted it from the back (plain yellow) in swirls and leaves and a few butterflies.
